Nuria
This is a beautiful drive to the Pyrenees, there
is a place called Nuria found at 2000 meters
high and an incredibly nice car ride with
amazing views. The last 12 km of the mountain
you can use a train all the way up.

Of course you can with an organized trip to Barcelona, but the train is as simple and not expensive (less than 10 euros for a return).
There is a direct train from Blanes and Malgrat to Barcelona. And in Barcelona you have the option to buy a day pass for public transport (metro and bus).
